LPGA Teacher Patricia Kitchen remembered

Patricia M. Kitchen 1941 - 2013 BENNINGTON Patricia M. Kitchen, 72, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, after a long struggle battling cancer.Ms. Kitchen was born in Bennington in 1941 and was a practicing member of the Catholic Faith. Pat attended Burr & Burton Academy in Manchester and graduated in 1959.

In 2010, she was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame as the "Legend of 1959." She graduated from Albany Business College in Albany, N.Y., and pursued her career with the frameworks of the FBI and later the political arena in Washington, D.C. Pat later earned her degree in Microbiology from Montgomery College in Maryland and that path led her to Harrisburg General Hospital for 20 years.Pat was very athletic throughout her life.

She loved to sail on the Chesapeake Bay. She earned her United States Professional Ski instructors certification and taught skiing in Pennsylvania until an injury forced her off the mountains. She became a member of the Teaching Division of the LPGA in 1991 and taught golf in Pennsylvania and Florida. Pat was a member and served on the Board for the Professional Club Makers Society and used that knowledge in her business which was in fitting and making golf clubs at her business (PK Clubs) in Ephrata, Pa.

Pat moved to The Villages in 2002 and was the Head Golf Professional at Pine Ridge & Twisted Oaks Golf Courses in Beverly Hills, Fla. She ended her golfing career working in The Villages at Hacienda Hills Golf Course. She will forever be remembered for all the love and life she brought to others in so many ways....but especially as a golf instructor.

She was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Thelma (Kennedy) Mattison. She is survived by her partner and friend, Jo (Witmyer) Sydnor, of The Villages, Fla.; two brothers, Jesse and Eric Mattison of Manchester; a sister, Beverly Gallett of Bennington; a daughter, Tina (Kitchen) Mattison of Putney; a niece, Gail (Mattison) Whitehouse of Colchester, and a nephew, Stephen Mattison of Burlington.MEMORIAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held in The Villages at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Junior Golf Program in The Villages, FL/or the Marion County Hospice Center in Ocala, FL.
