Jamie Taylor

Sanford, FL

I view every golf swing as uniquely different because that is who we are as people. To teach efficiently and effectively, I consider a person’s learning style, skill level, body type and goals. I then identify the strengths in a person’s swing and focus on their greatest weaknesses. I make one change at a time to ensure that the student comprehends the “why” and is comfortable with the execution.

When addressing course management and lowering their score, I evaluate all areas of their on-course play from the green to the tee. Identifying the greatest area of improvement is the goal. Our sessions will not only include skills adjustments, but we also address the mental aspect of their game. Success is determined by the student, and I provide them evaluation tools to know how to measure their success.

My tournament golf experience, and 20 years in teaching golf has given me insights to what is needed for any golfer, from a novice to a competitor, to achieve their goals. My strength is being able to communicate complex concepts in a simple and comprehensive manner.

Jamie Taylor, LPGA, is an alumna of Laurel School in Cleveland, OH. There she started her quest in growing the game of golf by starting the golf team her junior year. She was inducted into the Laurel School Sports Hall of Fame for this contribution. After high school, she attended Gannon University in Erie, PA, where she received a full ride to play on the women’s varsity team. As the only African American in her conference; she served as captain her junior and senior year; was president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC); and received her MBA.

Her career as an LPGA Teaching and Club Professional began when she was hired as the first female Head Golf Professional for the Cleveland Metroparks in Cleveland, OH. There she ran 27-hole and 36-hole golf courses. During her tenure, she created several women’s golf initiatives which were recognized by the Ohio Parks and Recreation, Crain’s Business Magazine, and the African American Golfers Digest. Jamie also had a unique opportunity to be the first golf professional to do weekly golf tips for WKYC. This six-week series helped her quest in inspiring minority youth by serving as a role model in the industry.

In 2015, Jamie decided she wanted to make a bigger impact on the golf community and moved to Florida, where she was the Programs Manager for the LPGA Foundation. In this role, her focus was growing the game by attracting more females through the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf Program. She oversaw the execution of junior clinics at LPGA Tournaments, LPGA Leadership Academies, Girls Golf Academies, eLeader Program, and scholarships. In her five years with the LPGA, Jamie developed the eLeader Program, a nationally recognized volunteer program for girls, ages 13 – 18; developed an app to help GG sites communicate with their members; wrote the curriculum for LPGA Golf 101 and #inviteHER clinics, and much more.

In 2018, Jamie started her first company, JT Mobile Training, to help other golf professionals learn how to attract and retain clients of diverse backgrounds. In 2020, Jamie created the Black Golf Directory website and in November she became a full-time entrepreneur! LPGA and several other golf companies are her clients. Her number one focus now is to continue to diversify golf, as well as, use her skills to help in growing other industries.
