Tina Tombs
Phoenix, AZ
The Arizona Biltmore GC
My Career in golf spans five decades. My determination and ability to set clear goals are qualities that helped me achieve success both as a player and now as a teacher. My first LPGA win came in 1990 at the Jamie Farr Toledo Championship. In 1993, I finished second at the Sara Lee Classic losing in a three hole playoff. While I learned from successes, the cuts that I missed, the tears that I shed, and the sleepless nights before championship Sundays are ones that I treasure and that have molded me to become the teacher that I am and want to be in the future and that is the best of all women and men combined. I have trained with the best teachers and sports psychologists that the game has to offer. All of them have influenced my life, my game and more importantly, have influenced my teaching philosophies and techniques. I have experienced both great successes and moments of struggles, both of which have inspired me to become a student of the game. I love to apply what I learn. Every day when I go to the tee, it does not feel like work, because I love what I do. My love of teaching has allowed me to relate to my students , and I am able to teach to their specific needs and goals in a safe and fun environment.

She was ranked Golf Digest Top 10 Amateur and won numerous amateur events. Tina is a two-time NCAA All-American at Arizona State University (1984 and 1985) while completing her BS degree in Physical Education 1985.

During her professional career, Tina won the LPGA Jamie Farr Classic in 1990 and had a career best round of 64 en route to a runner up finish at the Sara Lee Classic. In 2012, Tina partnered with Barrows Neurological Institute in Phoenix to host The FORE Barrow Challenge. This team event featured LPGA Seniors and current LPGA tour players to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation (a foundation very close to Tina as she was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 2) of the Barrow Neurological Institute and the Phoenix Crisis Nursery.
Tina resides in Phoenix Arizona with husband Larry Fischer. Her daughters, Sarah and Heidi live in Los Angeles, California and Phoenix, Arizona, respectively.
Tina’s passion for golf and love for life does not start and end on the golf course. Further, she is recognized as a philanthropist within her community and finds time to enjoy life off the golf course with her family and friends.
